With the launch of the Majestic Poker tour and the expectancy of more premium tournaments to be featured in Latin America this year we have launched the player of the year quest.
Tournaments which are eligible for Player of the Year Points will be listed on latinamericapoker.com and pokerlatinoamerica.com. They include the following limitations:
Tournaments played in Latin America
- Prize pool of at least $25,000
- Tournaments which are advertised and organised at least 1 month prior to hosting.
- Tournaments with a buy in exceeding a minimum of $300
- Tournament schedule has been sent to latinamericapoker.com at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
- Tournaments with a minimum of 25 entrants
There are three criteria used in the calculation of points:
Buy in amount (for rebuy tournaments this is calculated through the average buy in amount)
- Number of entrants into the tournament
- Place finished
The total points are calculated by multiplying the factors from each of these criteria subject to the
Buy in amount:
$200 to $500 1 point
$501 to $1000 2 points
$1001 to $2500 3 points
$2500 to $5000 4 points
0ver $5000 5 points
Number of entrants:
25 to 50 1 point
50 to 100 2 points
100 to 200 3 points
200 to 500 4 points
Over 500 5 points
Place:
1 st 120 points
2 nd 100 points
3 rd 80 points
4 th 60 points
5 th 50 points
6 th 40 points
7 th 30 points
8 th 20 points
9 th 10 points
The first qualifying tournament was the Majestic Poker Tour in the Dominican Republic. The event had a buy in of 2100 and 60 entrants. There were 40 rebuys for $1000, so the average buy in was $2767. Arturo Morales finished in 2 nd place. This means he got 4 (for $2767 buyin) times 2 (60 entrants) times 100 (for finishing in 2 nd place) and got a total of 800 points.
